OUR STORY

Saturday’s Child was born at the zoo, high above sea level in Big Bear, California in 1997. Brothers James and Jason Schlarmann teamed up with some friends to be loud and have fun. Nearly a quarter century later, those goals remain the same.

2020

And then it was 2020. The entire world literally shut down, and James and I couldn’t even be in a room to write together. Technology and tenacity teamed up to carry us through to continue collaborating with each other as well as long-time engineer/producer for Saturday’s Child, Carter William Humphrey. Through the dark months of the year’s historic global pandemic, we kept working, separated but still singly focused on capturing the moments past and present within the musical language we share.

The result is “Runway Runaway”, nine songs of emotions told through melody and experiences expressed with dynamic energies. Featuring events of the day as well as timeless themes of isolation, togetherness, and grit, “Runway Runaway” is a sonic leap forward with promise of even more to come.

2008 – 2015

After some lineup changes, starts & stops, and a hiatus (or three), Saturday’s Child went quiet following a lively festival appearance for Halloween 2015 in Escondido, CA.

1997 – 2007

Untold thousands of miles and way too many cigarettes behind us, Saturday’s Child slugged it out in the local clubs of San Diego and Los Angeles, taking to the road for multiple tours along the way. Culminating in the festival scene of SWSX 2006, the band earned a reputation for loud, energetic shows with crowd pleasing presence From California to Washington, Arizona to Texas.
